lyrics

I once knew this little kid and he had a camera
The camera had no film
He went around taking pictures anyways
The pictures, they were just for him
One day that kid grew up and he knew the pictures weren't real
So he went down to the gas station and he grabbed himself some film
He put it in his camera and he looked down through the lens
He saw the world through it

That kid was all grown up, he was old enough to be called a man
Some people started saying, "man those pictures really ain't so bad
Then that same kid went around the world chasing people cars and things
I even seen his pictures on the fronts of magazines
One day I got a postcard with a picture from the kid
In his hands he had the camera, yeah the one without the film
He saw the world through it

He stared life right in the face, he took with him what he saw
And all he ever carried was his camera and his heart
That kid with the camera had the eye right from the start
He saw the world through it
He saw the world through it
